What Are They?Growth Discovery Evening Retreats are 3 hour (6-9pm), Friday evening mini-seminars. From 6-7 we share a meal and from 7-9 we dig into that evening retreats topic with plenty of interactive componets to increase our learning and growth. The whole idea of the evening retreats is growth. Point of Grace desires to encourage, empower, and equip followers of Jesus to live the "good news" of a alternate way to live-- the way of Jesus. The evening retreats play into the larger vision of Point's spiritual formation both personally and as a faith community. Our goal is for all active participants to make it a priority to go through all 6 retreats within the next two years (all six retreats will be offered each calendar year). We believe that all faith community participants are are called to be equipped in the areas Jesus has called us to. Think of these retreats as training ground for spiritual maturity. The evening will begin at 6pm at different conference room locations around Holmen/La Crosse area (these areas will soon be announced). The retreat will kick-off with a dinner and some time to get to know one another. We will then have two 50 minute sessions (with a break in between) that teaches and engages all who are participating. |
What Are The Topics?101: Discovering the Foundation - April 13th (CLICK HERE to Register)Topics: Biblical foundations of our faith (Creation, Sin, Salvation, Justification, Grace, The Church, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, God’s Word), becoming familiar with the Bible, how to study the Bible, common objections to God, tactics of Satan upon the saved, what it means to be a follower of Jesus today. 201: Discovering my spiritual SHAPE (Spiritual gifts; Heart; Abilities; Personality; Experience) - May 16th 301: Discovering Church Membership (history, faith statement, sacraments, time, talent, treasure) - This retreat has already taken place and will be offered again during the month of March of 2013. 401: Discovering Spiritual Disciples (prayer, Scripture reflection, silence, simplicity, selflessness) - Sept. 21st 501: Discovering Mission (serve/share in Jesus name. How to share Jesus in a life of evangelism and not just rhetoric) - Oct. 19th 601: Discovering Spiritual Leadership (small group host/leader, ministry volunteer/team leader, deacon/elder, and household/parental leadership) - Jan. 18th (2013) |
What does it cost?$10 per person or $15 for a couple. Please know that Point of Grace never wants money to come in the way of spiritual growth, so even if you can't pay for the event please sign up!
